Fatma Taha MB, BCh, MS, MPH

Co-Founder, Operations Director

Fatma is well known for her compassion towards patients, and more recently, towards seniors and others in need of help while living in the comfort of their own home.

Our Founder and Executive Director, Fatma Taha, has lived in the Tri-Cities for 22 years. Fatma has been involved in the healthcare field for many years. She started her career as a physician, then moved on to assume several roles; as a member of the senior management team at several major BC hospitals. Her role predominantly involved monitoring the quality of patient care. She also managed infection control and patient safety initiatives at Fraser Health Authority, in particular, the Authority’s 12 acute hospitals and over 20 residential homes and home health initiatives.

Fatma holds a Masters of Public Health degree from the University of British Columbia and a Certificate with honours in Healthcare Quality Management from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.

Fatma has also worked as a healthcare educator in Canada and abroad. She offers free health presentations to the general public at public libraries, and to seniors at senior centres. Learn more about these presentations’ schedule at “Events”.

Isabelle Provost BA

Community Outreach

Isabelle’s passion for the human experience and empathetic curiosity fuel her quest to care for all.

Isabelle grew up and studied in Montreal where she obtained a Bachelor of Marketing Communications from University of Montreal’s HEC. After several years of playing varsity volleyball, Isabelle took her team spirit to the corporate world, working for companies with strong corporate cultures as Apple and Air Canada. Her customer centric values and innate compassion led her to assume leadership roles in training and management, while relocating to Toronto and Vancouver.

Responsible for community outreach, Isabelle joined Big Hearts to pursue her humanist fervour and create relationships between healthcare professionals.

In her spare time she enjoys studying health sciences (Certified personal trainer and holistic nutritionist), working out, cooking and dancing as much as she can.

Jan Escueta RN

Clinical Head

Jan’s knowledge, experience, and compassion are an integral part of the Big Hearts family.

Jan has been a Registered Nurse for 21 years. She has an unwavering passion for health care and her experience in the field is indicative of that. Jan worked at a Tertiary Hospital in the Pediatric General ward and ICU, in addition to working in the General Pediatric ward at Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Jan has also worked as a Residential Care Coordinator at a long term care facility and as a Pediatric Home Health Nurse for various healthcare providers. Jan has devoted her time to a palliative nursing home for children, as well as a Nurse Clinical Instructor in the clinical & classroom environments. On her free time, Jan enjoys scrapbooking, soap making, gardening and cooking.

Sameh Ginena, BA, LLB, LLM

Co-Founder, Business Development Manager

Sameh is passionate about giving back and ensuring that quality home care services are available to those who need it most.

Sameh has been an active member of the Lower Mainland for the past 15 years. He attained his Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University, then went on to complete his Bachelor of Laws and thereafter Masters of Laws from the University of British Columbia. Sameh has worked at the Canada Revenue Agency, Red Cross, and currently works with the United Nations. He has volunteered his time with Doctors without Borders and helped manage food banks in the Lower Mainland, as well as having supported many youth and senior initiatives throughout the years. He has focused his efforts on local community centres and supporting the most vulnerable in our society, including the elderly, disabled, and destitute. He is passionate about giving back and ensuring that quality home care services are available to those who need it most.

Samantha Bowlby

Human Resources and Office Administrator

Samantha is passionate about giving back and ensuring that quality home care services are available to those who need it most.

Samantha has grown up in the lower mainland all her life, and knew she wanted to spend her career giving back to her community. She holds a Diploma in Public Relations from Kwantlen Polytechnic University and has spent over 8 years working in the nonprofit sector. Samantha values the importance of ensuring that others feel heard and valued, and she brings this passion wherever she goes. In her spare time Samantha enjoys jogging, shopping, listening to podcasts and playing with her two rescue kitties.
